Job Title: Research Scientist I – Epitopea Inc

Full Description:

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Scientist to join our dynamic research team. This entry-level role will involve providing support for various scientific projects while also contributing to key laboratory maintenance tasks. The successful candidate will work closely with Senior Scientists in the lab and gain hands-on experience in immunology-related research. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with who is looking to contribute to innovative scientific research.

Key Responsibilities:

The Research Scientist will work with the team to facilitate the development of new protocols and efficient lab processes to ensure timely, high-quality results. Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with setting up, executing, and troubleshooting experimental protocols.
  • Conducting hands-on laboratory tasks, including preparing samples, performing assays, and analyzing experimental results.
  • Supporting the preparation and presentation of research findings in team meetings or to senior management, ensuring clarity and accuracy in data interpretation.
  • Maintaining ongoing experiments during periods of team absence (e.g., annual leave), ensuring that critical research activities continue without interruption.
  • Coordinating with animal care technicians and Contract Research Organizations (CROs) to use animal models and ensure proper handling of biological samples in alignment with project goals.

Moreover, the Research Scientist could be asked to execute laboratory management tasks, such as:

  • Performing routine maintenance and organization of laboratory spaces to ensure a clean and safe working environment.
  • Monitoring and maintaining laboratory equipment, ensuring proper function and calibration, and performing preventive maintenance tasks on incubators, water baths, and other critical tools.
  • Maintaining accurate inventory records of lab supplies, ordering materials as needed to ensure smooth operations.
  • Assisting in the storage and management of biological materials, including aliquoting and freezing down cell lines and perishable items as required.
  • Ensuring biological materials are properly stored and accessible, maintaining accurate records of sample storage and inventory to support ongoing and future research.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biology, Immunology, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience with immunology laboratory techniques such as cell culture, T cell expansion, flow cytometry, Elispot assays, etc would be preferable
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team environment.
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and good laboratory practices.
